Apartment 1. 40m2. Sleeps 5 On the top floor, this apartment has 2 lovely large balconies, with superb views. Entry is into a hallway with to oneside a bathroom with shower, washbasin, and WC; a hallway that opens into a dining room kitchen area, with sink, cooking top, and refridgerator. A door opens from the dining area onto the large terrace balcony. To oneside of the dining area, there is a sitting area with double sofa bed, with TV. There is a master bedroom with double bed, and a single bed, that has its own private balcony terrace. Apartment 2. 49m2. Sleeps 5 On the top floor, this apartment has a balcony terrace, with a superb view. GOSAU AND SURROUNDING AREA Beautiful Gosau is just 45 minutes drive from Salzburg. The village is an excellent base to discover the surrounding region including the Dachstein Mountain range, whether you come for skiiing in the winter, or swimming, walking activiities during the summer. Gosau offers many shops, restaurants, bars, chalets, as well as banks, post office, doctor, supermarket, and garage for all your needs. There a number of chalet restaurants bars in the surrounding mountains, as well a number of ski lifts to make your stay a pleasure. There is a skiing school as well as a nature reserve. The village boasts the only stone and marble turnery in Austria, where you can buy from a large variety of rocks, and fossils. It is also known for in the winter months - the "Dachstein Alpine Trophy" for a hot air ballooning contest. Towns and villages in the area include Bad Ischl, St Wolfgang, Gmunden, and Salzburg. Nearby lakes include the Gosausee, and Hallstattersee. Bad Ischl was the summer time residence of Emporer St Josef of the Austro-Hungarian empire, at Kaiservilla which he called heaven on Earth. The town is known for its health spas, congresshaus, and theater - during the Summer you can listen to concerts everyday. St Wolfgang is a popular bathing, and spa resort on lake St Wolfgangsee, (lovely 1000 yr old church, and White Horse Inn) with its steam coghill train that goes up Schafberg Mountain. Gmunden is another popular summer and winter resort with numerous spas that offer a cacophony of water cures. Also visit Orth Castle: built on the Lake Traunsee. Salzburg is the gem of the region.(visit Salzburg city website). With its many church spires climbing up the Monchsberg mountains side, narrow streets crammed with shops, cafés, pretty buildings and the ever present Mozart - Salzburg is lovely city to visit. Take a steep walk to the Festung Hohensalzburg fortress, home to prince-archbishops with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Visit the Mirabellegartan - as featured in The Sound of Music film, and now hosts concerts. Visit the 2 Mozart museums ... perhaps enjoying his music during the Salzburg Festival (late July to end of August) and if you are feeling romantic - take a horse drawn carriage (fiacre) from the Residenzplatz.
