ENTRANCE
AND GARDEN
Entry is via a private road, set back about a kilometre from the main
road, that enters the enclosed courtyard with plenty of parking for a
number of vehicles at the back of the chateau.
THE HOUSE AND ACCOMMODATION
The main
door enters into a hall, that runs from back to the front of the
house. Immediately to the right a door enters into the kitchen
with a 4 ring stove with oven, kitchen table for 8 persons, dishwasher,
refrigerator, and open wood burning fireplace. There is a traditional
tommette floor and wood beamed ceiling. Beyond the kitchen there is a
utility room with washing machine, a separate WC with washbasin,
and service stairs. Another door leads from the kitchen into the living
room at the front of the house, This is comfortable with armchairs,
couches, TV, and stereo CD player. Next to the sitting room
is the large dining room with large dining room table to seat 12.
Another door leads from the living room into the central hall. On the
other side of the hall are a couple of rooms of equal size that are closed
off and have at times been used as an art gallery. There is a glass wooden
door from the hallway that leads onto the gardens at the front of the
chateau. There is also a separate WC off from the hall.
A stairway climbs to the first floor with central landing.
To one side, in the East Wing, another hallway leads to a double
bedroom with ensuite bathroom, with bath, shower, WC
and washbasin; as well as a child's bed in the main bedroom. Further
along the hallway is another large double bedroom, with a twin
bedroom on the other side of the hallway. There is a separate bathroom
with WC, bath, shower, and washbasin.
On the other side of the central landing is the West Wing, with
another hallway off which leads to a children's bedroom with a
single bed suitable for 2 children, or one adult, and on the
other side of the hallway - there is the master double bedroom.
There is a bathroom opposite the master bedroom with double
washbasin, bathtub with shower attachment. There is a separate
WC.
A door leads to a service staircase that leads down to the kitchen and
up to the second floor to what could be ostensibly a separate apartment
- as it has a double bedroom, with a single bed in an attached
room, with its own bathroom with bath, washbasin and separate WC.
All the main four bedrooms (except the children's room) have views to
the front of the house with its stunning views across the wide river valley
towards the Montagne Noire.
Garden, with extensive lawns surround the chateau, with a large swimming
pool (5m x 12m) a short distance from the house with plenty of places
to sunbathe, or laze under the magnificent trees that surround the house.
There are walks aplenty in the park with its lovely pigeonnier, and beyond
in the surrounding countryside.

THE SURROUNDING
AREA
The house in located in Lauragais region - the Pays de Cocagne,
renowned for pigeonniers, pastels, excellent dining and food, abbeys,
chateaux.
Nearby is Revel - renowned for furniture making - where you can
visit workshops, whilst looking at the medieval arcades in the center
of the town. Close to is St Felix Lauragais - with pretty 14th century
church, covered market, and ruins of a fortified castle. For those
seeking water sports and bathing - Lake Saint Ferreol has features
to please all.
To the north west is Lavaur - with its grand Gothic cathedral with
flamboyant entrance, brick houses, fountains, squares is charming.
A little further is Gaillac - famed for its wines for centuries,
perched over the river Tarn, with the Abbey of St Michel. Of course
to the North is Albi - marvelous for a one day visit - you must
visit the Toulouse Lautrec exhibition - in the former bishops palace;
as well as the brick cathedral with its marvelous 15c fresco of
the Last Judgement.
To the east is Castres - a busy town that boasts a Goya museum.
Close are the strange landscapes of Sidobre in the Lacaune region
- huge granite rocks and bolders seemingly strewn haphazardly over
the landscape. Also close too is what once in the 17th century was
the largest school in France - the Abbey School of Sorèze.
Its only a 1 hour drive to Carcassonne with its Medieval castle
and Cité, and another hour to the endless beaches of the
Mediterranean stretching all along the coast from the Pyrenees to
the Camargue. For those seeking serious shopping and night life
