Upstairs bedroom The diamond swimming pool (9m x 4m2) which has depths from 1.5m to 2m, has wide decking around it, and there are sun loungers, as well as a shower. There is secure parking available for 2 cars. The holiday rental home also has adsl internet access, and central heating. |

![]() Narbonne ideally placed to discover Languedoc NARBONNE Just a short walk and you are in central Narbonne at the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, and the main square. Almost opposite on Thursday and Sunday there is a large open air market, that runs along the Canal de la Robine (an arm of the Canal du Midi - a UNESCO heritage treasure). On the opposite bank is Les Halles, the daily covered market, where you will find all the traditional shops and stores, and little bars, that are essential in France. Other sights include Charles Trenet's birthplace which contains a museum that celebrates this joyful French singer; the Horreum, an underground Roman warehouse, and the roman autoroute - Via Domita, dating back to when Narbonne was the capital of Roman Southern France. The city has numerous restaurants, shops, cafés, and has music, and theatre festivals, historic pageants, and numerous events throughout the year; and also has a lively theater, which also screens often films in version originale (for example in English!) SURROUNDING AREA 15 minutes eastward, over the craggy hills of La Clape, are the glorious sandy Mediterranean beaches of Narbonne Plage, Cabanes de Fleury, St Pierre sur Mer, and Gruissan. Every activity is catered to : wind and kite surfing, water sports, swimming, tennis, skate boarding, naturism, walking and climbing. 5 minutes to the south the magical road to Bages with art galleries and restaurants, and Peyriac sur Mer, saunters along the marshes and etangs, with flocks of pink flamingos and sea birds, across causeways, to salty inland lakes for those seeking weightless dips. A little to the west is the Cistercian Fontfroide Abbey, founded in the 11th century, with a lovely rose garden, and fine restaurant. For quick and must trips visit the Medieval Castle and Town of Carcassonne (45 minutes drive) and the hilltop Cathar castles of Queribus and Peyrepertuse in the high Corbieres, in the direction of Perpignan and Spain. ACCESS Narbonne railway station is 5 minutes walk with TGV connections to Paris, Toulouse, Barcelona. International airports: Beziers (25 mins), Carcassonne (45 mins), Perpignan(40 mins), Montpellier (60 mins), Toulouse (90 mins), Barcelona- Gerona (90 mins).
